AP Human Geography (SS) 

This course is a full year global study of patterns and processes that have shaped humans’ understanding, use and alterations of the Earth’s surface. During this course we will focus on topics such as population, migration, culture, language, religion, ethnicity, political geography, economic development, industry, agriculture, and urban development. This course is for students who are willing to be challenged by a college level course. Students will have the opportunity to take the AP Human Geography test and earn college credit.

AP Psychology (SS)  

Students taking Psychology 1010 will earn 3 college credits. Those taking AP Psychology will take the AP test and the college credit is available, but not mandatory.

Psychology is the challenging, fascinating science of behavior and mental processes.  This comprehensive course leads students to a deeper understanding of cognitive activity, human development, emotional states, perception, motivation, memory, intelligence, personality, mental health, and social and environmental factors.

Requirements for the course will include chapter activities, textbook reading, study guide assignments, tests, presentations, attendance, and positive participation.

A.P. World History Modern (SS)

The course teaches history from 1200 AD to the present. Elective course for qualified students.  Equivalent to college level introductory course in World History

Course Details

This course is designed for the academically minded, college-bound students. This course is designed to prepare students for the AP World History Modern Test for students who wish to take it.  Students can get up to 6 college credits. This course is more rigorous than World History and includes Historical Thinking Skills, reading, and essay writing. This course satisfies the 10th-grade History requirement.

Geography for Life (SS)

Geography takes a brief look at the world and its people.  This course will 

provide the students with an overview of physical and cultural geography.

It will help them understand the relationship people have with their environment.  It will introduce them to the vocabulary of geography and the 5 themes of geography.

US Government & Citizenship (SS)

This course introduces students to a study of ideas and philosophies of American Government and law; a study of the Constitution, understanding of the American political and legal system and the responsibilities of citizenship.  

Course Details 

The course will provide application of knowledge and attitudes in the areas of responsibility, law and justice, rights, governmental functions and process, and civic participation.  Emphasis will be given to ways the student can become an active, concerned, and knowledgeable citizen.  The AP American Government test will be available for those students interested in taking it.

US History II (SS) 

 This course is designed for the college-bound student and students that want an in-depth study of the economic, social, and political development of the United States.  

Course Details 

This course will be academically more rigorous than Fundamentals of U.S. History placing greater emphasis on reading, essay writing, and critical thinking.  The course is intended to prepare students to work at the college level.  This course satisfies the eleventh grade U.S. History.

World History (SS) 

This course addresses the time frame from prehistory to the present.  This course covers a broad survey of historical topics, including religions, civilizations, empires, and revolutions.  

Course Details 

The course will deal with those historical differences among people that lead to conflict.  The course is basically historical and will include the development of tools of historical analysis.

This college level class is offered exclusively to students in the concurrent enrollment program offered by SUU.
